Actor Reg E. Cathy has been known for some prominent roles throughout the years. Including his roles on the hit shows “House of Cards,” and “The Wire.”
Unfortunately, the actor passed away at 59 on Friday.
According to TMZ, Cathey passed away in his home in New York surrounded by his family and friends. It’s reported that he had been battling lung cancer.
In 2015, Cathey won an Emmy for his role as Freddy Hayes, on the hit Netflix show “House of Cards.” Prior to that role, he gained recognition from many of his other memorable roles, including Norman Wilson on the HBO show “The Wire.”
The show’s creator, David Simon, shared the news of Cathey’s death and said, “Not only a fine, masterful actor — but simply one of the most delightful human beings with whom I ever shared some long days on set. On wit alone, he could double any man over and leave him thinking. Reg, your memory is a great blessing.”
We send our condolences to the family of Reg E. Cathey during this difficult time.
